EZB-DBIS Conference

On 6 October 2026, more than 90 representatives from academic libraries, consortia and partner institutions came together in Regensburg for this year’s EZB-DBIS Conference. The event provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the latest developments relating to the Electronic Journals Library (EZB), the Database Information System (DBIS) and related topics. The evening before, many participants took advantage of the group dinner to engage in initial discussions and network. The conference day began with a guided tour of the new research reading room and the Code&Relax room at Regensburg University Library.

The event focused on current developments and future prospects for the EZB and DBIS. A series of keynote presentations introduced innovations in both services and looked back on the 25-year collaboration between the EZB and the Journal Database (ZDB). Further presentations highlighted practical interfaces and applications, as well as various collaborative projects in the field of electronic resources.

A particular highlight of the conference were the ten discussion tables, where participants were able to engage in conversation with experts on the EZB, DBIS, ZDB, RVK, GOKB, openCost, Alma collections or the activities of the EZB-DBIS Advisory Board. The in-depth professional exchange and the opportunity for networking were very well received by the participants.

In the afternoon, attention turned to current challenges and future issues. Presentations on infrastructures for text and data mining, as well as on the use of AI-supported methods in automated indexing, demonstrated just how dynamically the field of scholarly information provision is continuing to evolve.

Regensburg University Library would like to thank all the speakers and the numerous participants for their enthusiastic contributions, the engaging discussions and the valuable exchange of experiences. The high level of participation and the many stimulating conversations have demonstrated just how important and productive close collaboration within the EZB and DBIS communities is.
