Cooperative Management of Electronic Journals

Thank you for your interest in the Electronic Journals Library (EZB). More than 650 participating institutions use the EZB, also in virtual specialist libraries and other specialist information services. The EZB offers libraries and research institutions cooperative management of electronic journals:

• Information on more than 120,000 e-journals in all subject areas, including 85,000 freely available titles
• Convenient administration of institution-specific licenses and central management of journal packages and collections
• High quality and topicality of EZB data through cooperative collaboration, plus numerous export options
• Uniform access to e-journals and their full texts via institution-specific user interfaces in German and English
• Traffic light icons visualize accessibility in participating institutions
• Institution-specific availability check via EZB Linking Service
• Various nationwide services for academic literature and information supply

EZB membership

The financial support provided to the Electronic Journals Library by its user institutions, e.g., academic libraries, research institutions, and medical facilities, is of central importance. Members pay a small contribution to cover the technical operation of the EZB. A prerequisite for membership is the conclusion of an EZB user agreement.

In addition, the EZB maintains a wide range of partnerships with national and international services and supports them financially wherever possible. Your membership of the EZB therefore contributes to the promotion of these important initiatives. Your contribution supports, among other things:

• Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)
• Verein open-access.network e.V. (EZB as founding and association member)
• LAS:eR project of the hbz

The fees for EZB membership depend on the type and size of your institution, plus applicable VAT:

Thanks to its extensive networking, the Electronic Journals Library is an important part of the infrastructure for providing scientific literature and information.
