1. Basic Information on EZB Packages & Collections

1.1 What are EZB Packages?

The following EZB Packages are available in the EZB:

  • Consortia Package, e.g. Bavaria Consortia: Springer (EZB PackageID: BAYK1)
  • Alliance-License, e.g. Alliance License: Sage Journals Online (EZB PackageID: NALIW)
  • National License, e.g. German National License: Oxford University Press (EZB PackageID: NALJZ)
  • National Consortia, e.g. German National Consortia: JSTOR (EZB PackageID: NALJE)
  • Aggregator Package, e.g. EBSCO Aggregator Titles (EZB PackageID: EBSCO)
  • Publisher Package, e.g. Taylor & Francis Packages (EZB PackageID: TANDF)

EZB Packages are identified by the EZB PackageID (correspons the the BIBID).

1.2 What are EZB Collections?

EZB Packages contain at least one subpacket – so-called (Package) Collection – which represent a specific section of a package. Collections are defined by the CollectionID (corresponds to the anchor).

1.3 How to get EZB Packages & Collections data?

Various interfaces are currently being developed in order to obtain information from EZB packages and collections in an automated manner. Currently, the following information is available:

  • Querying the metadata of EZB Collections: https://ezb.ur.de/api/collections/CollectionID
  • Retrieving titlelists of EZB Collections: https://ezb.ur.de/services/collections?title_split=0
(the package or ollection manager must first release the data)
  • Retrieving titlelists of EZB Collections with ZDB title split rules: https://ezb.ur.de/services/collections?title_split=1
(the package or ollection manager must first release the data)

1.4 What are ZDB title split rules?

In case of a journal title change a new recording will be carried out, which is linked to the predecessor title. There are different rules on how the assignment of the license period to the respective title recording takes place. In the EZB the entire period in which a journal is licensed is assigned to the most recent title recording. In the ZDB the license period is assigned to the currently valid title recording. To do this, the license period must be split at the time of the title change and assigned to the corresponding title record. This is done automatically in ‘EZB titlelist with ZDB title split rules’.

2. Collections API

2.1 What is the Collections API?

EZB holds several kinds of collections, e.g. from alliance and consortia licenses or freely available. This API lists all EZB collections with all information (like IDs or names…) available to us. Use the API here: https://ezb-api.ur.de/collections

2.2 Which formats can be issued?
The Collections API uses JSON as its format.

There is a mailing list aimed at all EZB data users who regularly access data via the various interfaces of the EZB. Here you can get service-specific information from the EZB team. You can also use that mailing list to discuss with other EZB data recipients users about questions relating to the application, to contribute your own ideas and new approaches.
