Cooperative System for Knowledge Indexing
We appreciate your interest in the Regensburg Classification System (RVK). Any library or institution can become an RVK user, meaning that RVK Online can be used by anyone free of charge and without restriction. It offers you:
- classification for systematic indexing of holdings in academic libraries and institutions
- suitable for subject indexing and listing, for institutions of any size, for open access and stacks holdings
- academic topicality through cooperative further development
- convenient search in RVK-Online
- integration of all information in the RVK web portal and knowledge management in MediaWiki
- networked with regional and nationwide library catalogs and services, e.g. GND
- largest classification network in the German-speaking world
RVK membership
A large group of users has come together to form the RVK community. Members of the RVK community enjoy the following benefits:
- Cooperative further development of the subject classification systems through:
- Submission of new proposals: individual notations or more extensive notation areas
- Contribution to discussions on submissions and comments from other members of the community
- Revision of classification areas
- Contribution of register terms
- Access to all MediaWiki content, e.g., the discussion forum
- Contribution through participation in expert groups or the RVK advisory board
To become a member of the RVK community, you must sign an RVK user agreement. Members contribute a small fee to cover technical operating costs. The annual fee is currently €198 for individual libraries and €275 for multi-site libraries and institutions (plus applicable VAT).
